A 38-year-old woman was killed and her colleague was injured when a speeding truck knocked down the scooter they were riding near Krishnanandanagar Junction in the Rajajinagar traffic police station limits on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kalpana, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout, who was employed in a private company in Peenya 2nd Stage. Her husband works as a graphic designer in a Kannada newspaper.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 9.30 a.m., when Kalpana, along with her colleague, was heading to their office after dropping her daughter at school. A speeding truck knocked down the scooter causing Kalpana to fall on the left side. She was crushed under the wheels of the truck. Her colleague riding the bike fell on the safe side and escaped with injuries. Passers-by rushed them to a hospital, where Kalpana succumbed to her injuries.

The Rajajinagar traffic police have registered a case against the truck driver.
