A 26-year-old private firm employee was allegedly sedated and robbed of valuables worth ₹6.89 lakh by a woman he met through a dating app. The incident took place at a hotel room in Indiranagar where the duo had checked in on Saturday, the police said.

According to the complaint, the victim, a resident of Gundappa Layout, had come into contact with a woman through the app about two months ago.

On Saturday, the woman, identified as Kavipriya, 24, came to meet him at a restaurant in Indiranagar, where the duo had dinner and drinks.

They decided to check into a hotel nearby. Shortly afterwards, Kavipriya ordered food online and reportedly offered him a glass of water.

After drinking water, Avinash allegedly passed out, following which she stole 28 gm of gold jewellery worth ₹3,22,000, a 30 gm gold bracelet worth ₹3,45,000, ₹10,000 in cash, and an Apple smartwatch worth ₹12,000, all amounting to ₹6,89,000.

The police said that Kavipriya had met her boyfriend, Harshavardhan, 25, on a dating app. Both are from Karur in Tamil Nadu. They had reportedly taken loans from a few loan apps to lead a luxurious life. As they were unable to repay the loan, they allegedly planned to cheat victims after finding their details on dating apps.

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case of theft and cheating against Kavipriya and efforts are on to track her down.
