West Bengal players Sayani and Sangeetha defeated Sailu Noor Basha and Sri Laxmi from Andhra Pradesh in the women’s doubles finals of the 40th All India Postal Table Tennis tournament organised by the Department of Posts at the S3 Sports Arena in MVP Colony.
On the third day of the tournament on Thursday, mixed doubles and women’s doubles event were held. It the men’s doubles finals, Akashnath and Sourav from West Bengal defeated Umesh and Pavan from Telagana in the finals. In the finals under the veteran category, J Raj Kumar from Tamil Nadu defeated G. Ramesh Kumar from Telangana in the finals.
In the men’s singles quarter finals, Akashnath from West Bengal defeated Bhumin from Gujarat (4-0), Kaushik Pukhan from West Bengal beat J. Raj Kumar from Tamil Nadu in the second quarter final, Elsayeed Hussain from Assam defeated Sanil Sikri (Punjab) in the third quarter final, and Pawan Kumar from Telangana beat Chandesh Mehta from Rajasthan in the fourth quarter final.
In the women’s singles quarter finals, Sailu Noor Basha from Andhra Pradesh defeated Anuparuth from Telangana in the first quarter final, Abhinav Ramesh from Tamil Nadu beat Sangeetha from West Bengal in the second quarter final, Poulami Das from West Bengal beat Ranji of Punjab in the third quarter final, and Sayani Bose from West Bengal beat Sonal Joshi in the fourth quarter final.
