According to a readout from the government, at the meeting, the Petroleum Secretary addressing concerns about free trade LPG (5 kg FTL) to migrant workers, assured there has been no disruption in supplies affecting migrants and were stable.

He sought states may consider targeted distribution of the FTL cylinders.

“Secretary informed that states may consider managing targeted distribution of 5 kg FTL LPG cylinders, based on local requirements along with OMCs,” the statement read.

Further, the Petroleum Secretary emphasised that there were ongoing efforts to meet the LPG demand for autos. He urged three-wheelers which can run on both LPG and petrol be “encouraged to use the latter”, the readout read.

Other than that, according to the readout, the senior bureaucrat sought States to maintain strict vigilance against hoarding, diversion and the spread of misinformation that could trigger unnecessary panic.
