Weightlifter Satya Jyothi dies in road accident in Vizianagaram

Woman weightlifter T. Satya Jyothi (24), who brought laurels to Vizianagaram by winning several medals at national level competitions, died in a road accident here on Saturday evening. According to reports, she was going to Kondavelagada from YSR Nagar of Vizianagaram, when a lorry hit the two-wheeler she was riding. She died on the spot due to head injury and her sister Gayatri, who was riding pillion, was admitted to a hospital. Two Town Circle Inspector T. Srinivasa Rao rushed to the spot and started investigation.

Ms. Satya Jyothi had won bronze medals in the national level weightlifting competitions held in Gujarat and Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Nara Channdrababu Naidu had congratulated Ms. Satya when she won the bronze medal at the 38th national level weightlifting competition held in February, 2025, in Uttarakhand.
