Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated water and adventure sports at Unkal Lake in Hubballi on Sunday.

The lake was cleaned, beautified and developed under the Smart Cities project.

The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has started maintaining it. It has started facilities for motor boating, pandal boating, jet-ski, speed boating, kayaking and others.

Mr. Joshi and other leaders took a boat ride. He told reporters that he expected HDMC to maintain the lake in good condition.

MLA Mahesh Tenginkai said that efforts are being made to develop Hubballi as a hub of tourism.

Gardens will be developed across the city with CSR funds or others. “We are planning to install a Zipway watersports. One additional boat will be added to operate in the night. A rope way is planned on the Nrupatunga Betta,” the MLA said.

Mayor Jyothi Patil, Deputy Mayor Santosh Chavan, Municipal Commissioner Rudresh Gali and others were present.
