Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan on Sunday demanded the State government to ensure justice to the alleged mob lynching victim Ram Narayan, a migrant worker from Chhattisgarh, at Walayar in Palakkad, and financially assist his family.

In a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Mr. Satheesan described the incident as shameful and unbecoming of a civilised society. The people responsible for the death should be brought to justice, he said.

There is no justification for mobs taking the law into their hands, he said, adding that Ram Narayan was subjected to a trial by the mob and assaulted. “He was taken to the hospital by the police who arrived on the scene after four hours,” Mr. Satheesan said in the letter.
