In a significant development in the Sabarimala gold theft investigation, a report on the scientific analysis of the gold-clad artefacts at the Lord Ayyappa temple was reportedly handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Kollam Vigilance Court on Saturday. The analysis was conducted by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) as per the directive of Kerala High Court. Based on the chemical and forensic testing of specific samples, including the Dwarapalaka sculptures and the Sreekovil door frames, the report will confirm if the original gold-clad plates were replaced with copper replicas. The SIT is expected to present this report to the High Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, senior Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru was remanded in 14-day judicial custody via video conferencing in connection with the gold theft from the Dwarapalaka sculptures, an additional charge following his previous arrest related to the Sreekovil door frames. Furthermore, the court has posted the bail applications of the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potti, for consideration on Monday. Mr. Potti is seeking statutory bail on the grounds that he has completed 90 days in custody.
