Following the intervention of the Lokayukta, a person who secured appointment as Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) in contravention of rules of compensatory appointment was removed from service. Disciplinary action was also initiated against the official who made the irregular appointment.

According to an official release, Md Salauddin of Guntur district lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta alleging that Md Ameerjani was irregularly appointed as VRA of Pallapatla village of Nizamapatnam mandal under compassionate appointment scheme, despite not being the spouse or dependent child of a deceased employee, Shaik Mastan Shah, who died while in service in 2015. The appointee was the husband of a grand-daughter of the deceased employee and the appointment was contrary to the provisions of the A.P. Village Revenue Assistant Service Rules, 2005.

An enquiry was initiated and the reports submitted by the Guntur District Collector, the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration and the Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) also revealed that the appointment was contrary to Rule 42 of Service Rules.

A show-cause notice was issued and enquiry conducted, after which Ameerjani was removed from service. The government also initiated disciplinary proceedings against P. Krishna Mohan, the then tahsildar of Krishnapatnam mandal for dereliction of duty in making the irregular appointment.

Following prompt corrective action, Upa Lokayukta P. Rajani discontinued further enquiry and strongly recommended expeditious completion of disciplinary proceedings against the government official. “The complaint was closed reinforcing the principal that compassionate appointments cannot be misused in violation of law and public trust,” the release said.
