District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) inspected the arrangements being made for the upcoming International Fleet Review (IFR) 2026 and the City Parade on the Beach Road. He was accompanied by VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat and the authorities of the municipal corporation, revenue, Navy and officers from other departments concerned.
He reviewed the arrangements made on the stretch between Kali Mata Temple and YMCA such as VIP seating, vehicle movement area for dignitaries, public amenities, barricading, queue lines, installation of LED screens, parking facilities and the setting up of a control room.
For the convenience of spectators, special enclosures with a capacity of 1,000 persons on the beach side are being set up, along with the LED screens, he said and appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the events.
The Collector instructed the officials to take steps to temporarily shift the boats anchored near the jetty to other locations.
Emphasising public health and safety, Mr. Prasad asked the officials to arrange for first-aid kits, medical camps, and ambulances equipped with stretchers at the venue.
While visiting APIIC grounds, he directed the officials to undertake ground levelling works, ensure adequate lighting, and clear the unwanted shrubs.
The Collector also directed the officials to undertake proper sanitation measures and arrange 100 mobile toilets for the public, some of them in the parking areas.
Officials from the Navy, GVMC, VMRDA, and Revenue Department accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
