The district administration has announced a series of security measures and traffic restrictions in the city in connection with Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s visit on October 16 to inaugurate Navarathri Sargotsav-2026.

Educational institutions within the Kozhikode Corporation limits will remain closed in the afternoon on Friday in view of the security arrangements and traffic restrictions. The holiday applies to anganwadis, madrasas, CBSE and ICSE schools, and professional colleges. However, previously scheduled public and university examinations will be held as planned, the District Collector said.

Public entry to the Kesari Bhavan building at Chalappuram, where the event is scheduled to be held, will be prohibited from 1 p.m. on Friday. All commercial and non-commercial establishments and offices functioning in the building, including the Bank of Baroda’s Chalappuram branch, will remain closed after that time.

Traffic restrictions will be in place in Kozhikode city from 4 p.m. on Friday. The restrictions will cover the route from the Ramanattukara-Airport Road junction through Thondayad, Arayidathupalam, Mavoor Road, Mananchira, Palayam and Pushpa junction to Chalappuram. The district administration has urged the public to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with the police.
