Hours ahead of the Delhi blast, the Jammu & Kashmir Police carried out a wide-scale crackdown in around 10 districts of the Valley on Monday (November 10, 2025). Around 100 locals were either detained or bound down in several districts as more than 70 locations were raided and searched.
In north Kashmir’s Baramulla, police said an operation was launched and 16 properties linked to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) or Pakistan-based Kashmiri natives, and 23 locations with links to “over ground workers” (OGWs) were searched.
“The operation resulted in 10 individuals being bound down under preventive provisions. Besides, 16 OGWs are bound down for aiding unlawful activities,” the police said.
The police said 175 vehicles searched at strategic checkpoints along the National Highway and other vital routes in north Kashmir. “Thirty-two cordon and search operations (CASOs) were conducted simultaneously across different parts of the district,” the police said.
In central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said 39 persons were taken into custody as a preventive measure, “after credible inputs suggested their involvement in activities detrimental to public peace and security”.
“Extensive searches of the houses of J&K nationals operating from Pakistan or PoK, surrendered and ex-militants were carried out. The operation was aimed at disrupting the local support network that facilitates anti-national elements and ensures sustained peace and stability in the district,” the police said.
In south Kashmir’s Anantnag, similar operations were carried out at “suspected locations”, especially with links to “anti-national elements, terror associates and UAPA-accused persons”, the police said.
“The objective of these operations was to trace and identify individuals involved in subversive activities, monitor suspicious movements, and ensure public safety and order,” the police said.
In Pulwama’s Awantipora and Pulwama town, multiple locations were searched, “including areas where a recent encounter took place and at the residences of the killed terrorists and their associates”.
In Shopian, the police said raids continued for the third consecutive day “to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the district”.
The police said 11 individuals in Baramulla’s Sopore, booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, “despite being granted bail by the court were found to be violating the conditions imposed upon them”.
“The police have established violations of bail conditions and are in the process of moving formal applications before the competent court for cancellation of their bail orders. This action is part of police’s sustained efforts to ensure that judicial reliefs are not misused by those involved in unlawful or anti-national activities,” the police said.
In Kulgam, the police operation targeted OGWs, UAPA-accused and Public Safety Act-accused persons, terrorist sympathisers, and relatives of killed and active terrorists. “During the operation, eight relatives of J&K nationals operating from Pakistan and PoK were detained and shifted to jail under preventive laws,” the police said.
The police have filed 16 applications for cancellation of bail granted to accused persons booked under the UAPA in south Kashmir.
Speaking at a police function in Bandipora, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat reviewed the overall security, counter-terror operations, and the law-and-order scenario in the district. The DGP emphasised the need to further intensify the drive against anti-national elements, drugs, and crime.
