V-P to inaugurate college’s silver jubilee celebrations in Kochi

Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kakkanad, on Monday at 4 p.m. at the college auditorium.

Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, State Minister Roji M. John and Fr. Poulose Kidangen, manager of the school, will attend.

An industry-academia summit will also be held on the day.

Traffic curbs

Traffic restrictions will be in place in the city and its suburban towns on Monday in view of the visit by the Vice-President, the police have informed.

In Kochi city, the restrictions will take effect from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on NH 544, on the road leading from Kalamassery to the Government Medical College, on Seaport-Airport Road and from Toshiba Junction to Infopark west gate.

Vehicles on Aluva-Edapally NH 544 will be diverted from Paravur Junction and Thottakattukara through, among others, the Container Road and NH 66. Vehicles will also be diverted through, among others, Civil Line Road and Edapally-Pookattupady Road. Action will be taken against vehicles parked in an obstructive or haphazard manner, the police have said.

In Ernakulam Rural, traffic restrictions will be imposed on the Aluva-Angamaly NH 66 on Monday. No vehicles will be permitted from Angamaly towards Aluva from 12.40 p.m. to 2 p.m., while vehicles from the international airport must use the Mattur–Nayathode route.
