Four farmers died in an incident triggered by strong gusty winds at a paddy procurement centre located between Kothur and Gampalpalli villages in Luxettipet mandal of Mancherial district on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) late night. Four other farmers sustained injuries and were shifted to the government hospital in Luxettipet for treatment.

According to local accounts, farmers had gathered at the procurement centre to cover grain heaps with tarpaulins as strong winds picked up. As the winds intensified, they moved closer to a wall and nearby structures for shelter.
