Ahead of the 2027 Assembly election in Punjab, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu’s political trajectory is now shifting decisively towards the State.

Three times Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, presently serving as Rajya Sabha MP and Union Minister of State for Railways. Mr. Bittu said that he has completed 17 years in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Noting that he has “packed his bags” and is fully prepared to move to Punjab, he made it clear that he would be involved in the active politics of the State.

“Now, I want to serve Punjab and will be contesting the Vidhan Sabha elections to be held early next year,” he told media persons. Mr. Bittu’s Rajya Sabha term concludes on June 21.

According to party sources, Mr. Bittu is likely to be fielded from the Ludhiana (Central) Assembly constituency in the 2027 assembly elections. His remarks strongly suggest that the BJP high command has directed him to shift focus to Punjab and begin preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Notably, before his Rajya Sabha tenure, Mr. Bitti Bittu had served once as the Member of Parliament from Anandpur Sahib and twice from Ludhiana in Punjab.

Meanwhile, the party released a list of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections 2026, in which the party has nominated its national general secretary and senior party leader from Punjab Tarun Chugh for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
