DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday (September 5, 2026) alleged that the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) was conducting raids at the residence of former Minister K.N. Nehru for political reasons.

In a social media message, he said the raids were being conducted when a case was pending before the High Court and the Assembly was in session.

He said the people of Tamil Nadu knew about the “horse trading” by the ruling party, which he alleged involved making members of other political parties resign as MLAs and admitting them into the ruling party on the Assembly premises. An FIR in connection with the issue was pending, he said.

“The government has conducted the raids to divert attention when Indian democracy is heading towards a dark period. The DMK and Mr. Nehru will not be cowed down by these acts. We will challenge them legally,” he said.
