Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Sivasankar Lotheti announced that the power consumers are in for major relief in electricity tariff because the government has agreeed to bridge the revenue gap.

The electricity tariff order recently issued by the APERC for the financial year 2026–27 has brought significant relief for electricity consumers under APSPDCL.

The orders recently issued by the government in tune with the announcement made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to compensate the revenue gap of the power distribution companies is set to bridge the revenue gap of ₹8,238 crore for the Southern Discom.

“As a result, 53.84 lakh domestic consumers under APSPDCL have been protected from tariff hikes. Additionally, 12.15 lakh agricultural consumers continue to receive free power supply”, Mr. Lotheti said in a release on Friday.

The order will also help continue the free electricity scheme to SC/ST households, hairdressers and Dhobi ghats. The per unit tariff for the commercial consumers has also been reduced from ₹12.25 to ₹9.95, bringing in substantial relief. The increase in load relief for power looms from 10 HP to 20 HP will benefit 18,000 weavers, the CMD observed.
