The Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair, which won the tournament, received a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.

The second edition of the Vellore International School (VIS) Under-15 Inter-School Football Tournament concluded at the VIS campus in Kayar near Kelambakkam.

The event, a collaboration between VIS and The Hindu, continues to grow as one of the largest inter-school football tournaments in the region, inspiring young players to pursue excellence in the sport.

Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mogappair, emerged as the champion, while Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram secured the runners-up position, and St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School finished third.

Awards presented

Cash prizes were presented to the winners — ₹1,00,000 for the champions, ₹75,000 for the runners-up, and ₹50,000 for the third place. Individual honours were also awarded to outstanding performers.

“Football is a game that keeps us constantly moving toward our goals. In an era of virtual games, young players must step out onto the field to stay healthy, and shape a stronger future through sports,” G.V. Selvam, Chairman, VIS, and vice-president, VIT, said.

Edwin Sydney Vanspaul, Indian professional footballer with Chennaiyin FC and Chennai City FC, who was the chief guest, urged the students to put in their best efforts on and off the field.

K. Prabhakaran, Principal, VIS, welcomed the gathering. Rajesh Menon, Senior General Manager – Ad Sales, The Hindu, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
