UDF assumes power in 11 municipalities in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM

The United Democratic Front (UDF) assumed power in 11 of the 12 municipalities in Malappuram district on Friday. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) continued in power in Ponnani municipality.

In Malappuram, the IUML’s V. Rinisha was elected municipal chairperson and the Congress’ Jithesh G. Anil was elected vice-chairperson.

The LDF’s C.V. Sudha was elected chairperson of Ponnani municipality, and C.P. Sakeer was elected vice-chairperson.

In Valanchery municipality, Haseena Vattoli of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) was elected chairperson when the Congress’ K.V. Unnikrishnan was elected vice-chairperson.

In Manjeri, the IUML’s Vallanchira Abdul Majeed was elected municipal chairperson when the Congress’ Beena Jose was elected vice-chairperson.

In Nilambur, the Congress’s Padmini Gopinath was elected municipal chairperson when the IUML’s Shoukathali Koomancheri was elected vice-chairperson.

In Kondotty, the IUML’s U.K. Mammathissa was elected municipal chairperson when the Congress’ Aysha Bindu was elected vice-chairperson.

In Parappanangadi, the IUML’s Subaida Teacher was elected municipal chairperson when the IUML’s Shameem Kizhakkiniyakath became the vice-chairperson.

In Tirurangadi, the IUML’s Habeeba Basheer and M. Abdurahman Kutty were elected municipal chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively.

In Perinthalmanna, the IUML’s Pacheeri Surayya Farooque was elected municipal chairperson and the Congress’ M.B. Fasal Mohammed was elected vice-chairperson.

In Kottakkal, the IUML’s K.K. Nasar was elected municipal chairperson when the IUML’s Ramla Paroli was elected vice-chairperson.

In Tanur, the IUML’s Nasla Basheer was elected municipal chairperson, and the IUML’s M.P. Ashraf was elected vice-chairperson.

In Tirur, the IUML’s Keezhedath Ibrahim Haji was elected municipal chairperson, and Congress’ Sindhu Mangalassery was elected vice-chairperson.
