Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed concern over the United States’ recent moves to increase tariffs on Indian goods and to raise the H-1B visa fee.

The recent decision to raise H-1B visa fee could have adverse impact on both sides of the economies and could lead to unrest and misunderstanding between the two countries. Coupled with this were the apprehensions that could arise from abrupt decisions like tariff hikes, he said underscoring the significance and contribution of Telangana diaspora in the US’ progress.

The Chief Minister was speaking to an American delegation comprising senior U.S. business leaders, think tank representatives and philanthropists engaged in bilateral relations, investments and policy exchange between India and the US, which called on him in Hyderabad on Thursday (October 9, 2025).

Mr. Reddy said successive Governments followed a continuity in developmental initiatives paving the way for growth of Hyderabad, which was a global city at present. Despite political and ideological differences, the Governments adopted best practices from the past and never deviated from policies.

He explained his plans for the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and said the State Government aimed at becoming $1 trillion economy by 2034 and $3 trillion by 2047. Hyderabad was now competing with New York, Tokyo and South Korea in improving infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities.

The Government undertook several game changer projects and proposed some more for Hyderabad like Regional Ring Road, manufacturing zones, Bharat Future City, dry port, dedicated road and rail connectivity with sea port and others.

The Musi rejuvenation project would open up new avenues for advancing Telangana’s economy. “Hyderabad has the heritage and culture to develop a great riverfront.”

The Government planned to ensure that Telangana was a standout choice for the China+1 strategy, he said requesting the support of the US industry partners in the development of Bharat Future City. In addition, the Government planned to invite all the Fortune 500 companies to have their presence in the future city.

Telangana’s Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu outlined the Government’s plans to establish the State as a skill capital, especially in the artificial intelligence domain by setting up AI university. Leveraging the city’s emergence as a hub for global capacity centres, the Government planned to encourage GCCs for becoming value centres thereby exporting services and developing products. Recalling that firms from the State Capital supplied a major share of COVID-19 vaccines globally, he said efforts were on to further nurture indigenous companies
