Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Vellore on Thursday.

Police said that the deceased were identified as S. Madan, 40, who runs a travel agent office in Vellore, and Mohammed Kareem, 42, a cab driver.

Initial inquiry revealed that Madan was returning from work on a road overbridge bridge when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and hit the retaining wall of the bridge. He jumped from the two-wheeler and fell on a road around 20 ft. below the bridge. He was rescued by other motorists and admitted at Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore, where doctors declared that he was brought dead. A case was registered by Vellore South police.

In a separate incident, Kareem was riding his two-wheeler to his office in Shenbakkam when an unidentified vehicle hit him. He died on the spot. Based on an alert from residents, the Vellore North police rushed to the spot and a case was registered. Further probe is under way.
