Two killed in head-on motorcycle collision

Two persons were killed and two others, including a 16-year-old boy, were injured in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles near Adoor on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Madhu, 42, of Mangaram in Konni, and Satheesan, 45, of Anandappilly in Adoor. The accident occurred around 9 p.m. at Anandappilly on the Adoor–Pathanamthitta stretch.

According to the police, Madhu was riding towards Pathanamthitta with a woman as pillion rider when his motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle ridden by Satheesan.

The impact of the collision was so severe that one of the motorcycles caught fire.

Local residents shifted all four victims to the Government General Hospital, Pathanamthitta. Madhu was declared brought dead, while Satheesan succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The two pillion riders, including Satheesan’s 16 year-old-son, were later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kottayam, for advanced treatment. The police said the woman had sustained a spinal fracture, while the boy, identified as Sidharthan, remained in a critical condition.

The bodies have been shifted to the Government General Hospital, Adoor, and the Government General Hospital, Pathanamthitta, for postmortem examination, the police said.
