Two members of a family were killed and five others sustained serious injuries after their car met with an accident on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Pocharam in Sangareddy district on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Sai Mounika, 36, and B. Naveen Raju, 30. The injured, including Mounika’s husband Hari Prasad and a child, were rushed to a private hospital in Patancheru, where they are undergoing treatment.
According to officials at the Patancheru police station, the family had earlier visited Nehru Zoological Park and were returning towards Bowrampet around 6 p.m. when the car reportedly veered off the ORR and rammed into a barricade, leading to death of two on the spot. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted the bodies for posmortem examination.
As of 11.30 p.m., the police said no formal complaint had been received in connection with the incident.
