Two killed as car crashes into Kochi metro pillar

Two youths from Alappuzha were killed and two others severely injured as the car they were travelling in crashed into a pillar of the Kochi metro near Changampuzha Park, Edappally, in the early hours of Saturday (November 8, 2025).

The deceased were identified as Haroon of Vellakinar and Muneer of Thathampally, both aged 20. Yakub, 20, and Adhil, 20, both from Valiyamaram in Alappuzha, have been hospitalised. Yakub was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

The accident occurred around 3.30 a.m. when the car, moving towards south on Edappally-Mamangalam Road, lost control rammed a median and crashed into metro pillar numbered 450.

According to the first information report registered by the Elamakkara police, the car was speeding and being driven in a reckless manner.

The vehicle was severely damaged in the accident. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence).
