Two Plus One students were held for allegedly throwing stones at a train, causing a head injury to a Fire and Rescue Services official on September 25. The Ernakulam Railway Police traced the minor boys after examining CCTV visuals obtained from in and around the Kalamassery railway station.

S.S. Renjith, a senior fire officer with the Paravur fire station, was injured as he was hit with a stone thrown at the Chennai mail from Thiruvananthapuram as it approached the Kalamassery station.

The youngsters were produced before the Ernakulam Juvenile Justice Board on Friday (October 3) and shifted to the Observation Home at Kakkanad. The alleged offence can attract imprisonment of up to 10 years, the police said in a release.

The probe was conducted by a team led by Ernakulam Railway police Station House Officer A. Nisarudeen. At least four incidents of throwing stones at moving trains have been reported from around Ernakulam in the past two months, the police said.
