Two house burglars were arrested by Pahadishareef police of Rachakonda on October 2 and stolen property worth ₹17.5 lakh was recovered from them. The recovered lot included 170 grams of gold ornaments, 250 grams of silver articles, three motorcycles, 36 branded watches, a smart TV, a mechanical drill, and a screwdriver.
They were identified as Kattela Anoop Kumar, also known as Tinku, Niteesh or Raju, and Md Afroz Khan, alias Iffu, said an officer from the Pahadishareef police. “Anoop Kumar has been involved in 50 property offences across Hyderabad and was released from jail in August this year. He took to crime immediately after his release. Afroz Khan, a close relative of Anoop Kumar, had earlier been jailed in five property offence cases under CCS Hyderabad and Santosh Nagar limits,” said the officer, describing them as habitual and notorious offenders
The two carried out burglaries by targeting locked houses in residential colonies. Anoop Kumar would recce neighbourhoods during the day and return at night to break into houses using an iron rod to force open locks of doors, cupboards and lockers. The stolen gold was then handed over to Afroz Khan, who sold it to unidentified buyers in Hyderabad and shared the proceeds with Kumar.
The accused were recently involved in at least two burglaries in Balapur and Pahadishareef police station limits. Police have also connected them with 23 other burglary cases, relying on technical evidence and specific intelligence to establish their role.
