Two brothers found dead in a tank in Karnataka’s Hassan taluk

Two brothers, who went missing on Wednesday, were found dead in a tank at Valagerahalli near Dudda in Hassan taluk on Thursday.

The deceased have been Darshan, 17, and his younger brother Lakshmikanth, 5. They are survived by their father Ramachandra, a priest at a temple in the village, mother Rathnamma, and a sister.

After the boys went missing on Wednesday morning, their parents and relatives conducted an extensive search for them until evening. Unable to find the duo, they filed a complaint with the Dudda police.

Suspecting that the boys may have drowned in a nearby tank, which is spread over 300 acres, the police called the Fire and Emergency Services staff on Thursday morning. Both of their bodies were retrieved from the tank around 12.30 p.m., said the Dudda police.

Their bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem. It is not clear how they fell into the tank, the police said.
