A large number of people participated in a colourful march to mark Mahaveer Jayanti in Mysuru on Monday (March 30).

Members of the Jain community, dressed in colourful attires, marched alongside the chariot carrying the idol of Bhagwan Mahaveer, spreading the message of peace, tolerance, and non-violence.

The procession passed through Halladakeri, Ashoka Road, and Nehru Circle.

Panaka and butter milk were distributed to the public by the devotees.

Meanwhile, the Mysuru district administration has organised a programme to mark Mahaveer Jayanti at Kalamandira on Tuesday (March 31). Organised jointly by the district administration, Mysuru City Corporation, and Bhagwan Mahaveer Jayanthothsava Samithi, it will feature a stage programme at Kalamandira and also a Sugama Sangeetha programme at Kiru Rangamandira in Kalamandira complex on the same day.
