Two brothers have been arrested for breaking into a jewellery export company’s office and stealing more than 1 kg of gold ornaments, all of which have been recovered.
The accused were identified as Sonkamble Harish, 29, a sales executive with Guru Krupa Exports Pvt. Ltd., and his younger brother, Sonkamble Akash, 25, an office boy employed at an IT company in Hitec City. Both are residents of Mangalhat, and natives of Bidar district in Karnataka.
The arrests were made by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills zone, in coordination with the Banjara Hills police. The police recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing 1,028.59 grams from the accused.
According to the police, Harish worked as a sales executive responsible for showcasing jewellery designs to retailers, delivering gold and diamond ornaments, and collecting payments. During the course of his work, he became familiar with the company’s operations, and the office locker where the ornaments were stored.
Police said Harish allegedly planned the theft due to financial difficulties and enlisted the help of his brother. After an unsuccessful attempt on July 16, he returned the following day, switched off the power supply, entered the office by breaking a bathroom grill and stole the gold ornaments. He then handed the stolen jewellery to Akash for safekeeping.
Investigators said the brothers attempted to conceal their identities during the burglary. However, they were identified through CCTV footage and other evidence before being apprehended in the Mangalhat area.
A case was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Banjara Hills police station..
