Two boys drowned in a canal in Padamandi village, Ramdurg taluk of Belagavi district, on Friday.
Hanamant Durgappa Haged and Basavaraja Ramesh Somannavar, both aged 10, had gone to the hills outside the village to graze sheep.
They then decided to swim in the canal near the village.
However, when they did not return, their families got worried and began a search.
The parents of the boys later found the bodies floating in the canal.
Officers of the Katakol Police Station visited the spot.
The police have registered a case.
