Goruru Police in Hassan taluk have registered a case on charges of rash driving, causing death by negligent act against driver of the truck following an accident that killed nine at Mosale Hosahalli on Friday (September 12, 2025) night.

The police booked a case under the Sections of 281, 106 and 125 of the BNS, against Bhuvanesh, who was driving the truck.

The video clip captured at the accident spot shows that the the truck hits a two-wheeler and then crosses over the divider to ram into the crowd dancing in the Ganesha procession.

The driver also suffered injuries in the incident. The police booked the case based on the statement by Manjunath of Danayakanahalli, who lost his nephew Eshwar in the incident.

Among the deceased three are engineering students at Government Engineering College at Mosale Hosahalli. They are Mithun, 21, Gavirangapura in Hosadurga taluk in Chitradurga district, Suresh, 21 of Mallenahalli in Chikkamagaluru taluk, Praveen Kumar, 22 of Ballari.

Others who died are Rajesh, 18, K.B. Palya in Holenarasipur taluk, Eshwar, 17, of Danayakanahalli in Hassan taluk, Gokul, 17, Muttigerahalli, Kumaraswamy, 25, of Kabbanahalli in Holenarasipur taluk, Praveen Kumar, 25, of Kabbanahalli, Prabhakar, 51, Bantarahalli in Holenarasipur taluk.

As many as 16 people injured in the incident are under treatment in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.
