Amidst its ongoing stand-off with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched its campaign song, with a focus on Bengali identity and language, for the forthcoming Assembly election in West Bengal.
The three-minute, 13-second song titled “Jotoi koro hamla, abar jitbe Bangla (attack as much you can, Bengal will win again) was made public on Saturday (January 10, 2026).
The ruling party in West Bengal has woven Bengali asmita (identity and language) into its campaign song. The song highlights party chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and her nephew and the party’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are shown as the Trinamool’s political adversities. The video of the song features images of the Chief Minister and her nephew campaigning, as well as animated visuals.
The campaign song goes on to accuse the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of dividing people on communal lines and of disrespecting icons, including Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Visuals from protests by Trinamool leaders against the recent raids by the ED on the premises of I-PAC are also seen. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee intervened on January 8 during the ED’s raids on the I-PAC office and the residence of I-PAC co-founder Pratik Jain.
“Our campaign song is finally here, ready to ignite every corner of Bengal! Tune in and feel the raw power of our land, the defiant pulse of Bengal beating strong, the unbreakable resolve of millions who refuse to be silenced, the thunderous roar of a people rising as one against every conspiracy and attack,” the Trinamool Congress posted on its official social media handles while launching the song.
The party described the song ‘Jotoi koro hamla, abar jitbe Bangla’ as the heartbeat of “our resistance, the anthem of our pride, the voice of ma (mother)-maati (earth, land)-manush (human being)”.
Days before the launch of the song, Mr. Abhishek Banerjee launched the party’s campaign for the 2026 Assembly election with the theme ‘Abar jitbe Bangla‘ (Bengal will win again).
With its campaign and song, the Trinamool is seeking a fourth term in the State. The TMC came to power in West Bengal in 2011, after defeating the Left Front, which had been in power for 34 years prior.
The party’s 2026 campaign song has been conceived on the lines of the TMC’s 2021 Assembly campaign, themed as ‘Bangla nijer meye-kei chaye’ (Bengal wants its own daughter).
The Trinamool has scored over its political rivals with such campaign songs. The party’s ‘Khela hobe’ (let’s play) song had also struck a chord with the electorate of the State in the 2021 Assembly election and the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
