The Hyderabad traffic police announced traffic restrictions and diversions in view of the Bathukamma carnival scheduled for Saturday (September 27, 2025) at Upper Tank Bund. The measures will be in place from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. as heavy congestion is expected around Tank Bund and Necklace Road during the celebrations.

Traffic from Telugu Talli junction, Karbala Maidan, Liberty, Secunderabad, Musheerabad and other adjoining routes will either be stopped or diverted through alternative corridors such as Indira Park, Gandhinagar, RTC X roads, Prasad’s IMAX, Mint Compound Lane, Kawadiguda and Bandamaisamma. Vehicles moving towards Children’s Park and Buddha Bhavan will not be permitted.

RTC buses have also been diverted. Inter-district services from Secunderabad towards MGBS will be routed via Sweekar-Upakar Junction, Tarnaka, Barkatpura and Chaderghat. City buses from Karbala Maidan will be diverted through Bible House, Jabbar Complex, Kawadiguda, Gandhinagar and Indira Park.

Congestion is likely at major junctions including Khairatabad, Iqbal Minar, Liberty, Ravindra Bharati, Necklace Rotary, Tank Bund, Ranigunj and Nallagutta. Motorists have been advised to avoid these routes and plan their travel accordingly.

Parking facilities for visitors have been arranged at Snow World, NTR Stadium, Martyrs’ Memorial, Race Course Road, BRK Bhavan Road, HMDA Parking, Sanjeevaiah Park and opposite Lumbini Park.

Traffic diversions will be lifted once the programme concludes. Commuters can follow updates on the Hyderabad Traffic Police social media handles or call the traffic helpline (9010203626) for assistance. The police have urged the public to cooperate to ensure smooth traffic management during the event.
