Many places in the districts of Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, NTR, Krishna and Eluru received moderate rainfall, accompanied by thundershowers on Saturday. Lingapalem in Eluru district recorded 87.25 mm rain, the highest of the day.

In its 5.30 p.m. bulletin on Satuday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for the above-mentioned districts, along with West Godavari. An orange alert was also issued, valid between 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Rainfall recorded in various stations between 8.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to realtime information from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, is as follows: Pedakakani in Guntur district (77.25 mm), Sattenapalle in Guntur district (75.5 mm), Vallabhapuram in Guntur district (74 mm), Guntur (72.5 mm), Laxminarayana Devipeta in Eluru district (71.5 mm), among others.

There is a moderate-to-heavy rainfall warning for the State on Sunday as well.

According to the IMD, the low-pressure area over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, off north Andhra Pradesh coast, persisted at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday. The associated cyclonic circulation extended up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level, tilting south-westwards with height. It is likely to move west-north-westwards across south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh during the next two days.

Under the influence of these weather systems, several places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh may continue to receive light to moderate showers, along with thundershowers, throughout the week until September 20. A few places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may receive heavy rain on Sunday, but there is not much rainfall activity later.
