The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has approved a double-decker bus service for Thrissur, connecting the city with the Puthur Zoological Park, said Revenue Minister K. Rajan.
The decision was taken following discussions between Mr. Rajan and Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who confirmed that a ₹1.5-crore electric double-decker bus will be allocated to Thrissur.
The new service, titled “Thrissur City Views,” will operate in a circular route starting from the city, looping around Swaraj Round, proceeding to the Puthur Zoological Park, and returning to the city.
Mr. Rajan had earlier requested approval for the service during a meeting on permitting mini buses inside the zoo. Responding promptly, Mr. Ganesh Kumar directed the KSRTC Managing Director to expedite the allocation of the double-decker bus.
The open-top double-decker, a first for Thrissur, is expected to significantly boost tourism in both the city and the zoological park, offering visitors a new and exciting way to experience the region’s attractions.
