Three of family killed in road accident in Kallakurichi

Three members of a family hailing from Ramanathapuram were killed and three others sustained injuries when the car in which they were travelling in dashed against an advertisement pole at Sengurichi on the Chennai-Tiruchy national highway in Kallakurichi district in the early hours of Sunday (June 28, 2026).

The deceased were identified as Sakthi, his mother Sujatha and his brother Vetrivel of Kusavankudi of Ramanathapuram district.

Police said Hemalatha, 53 of Mandapam in Ramanathapuram district was returning in a car with her relatives after dropping her son Harish at the Chennai Airport. When they neared Sengurichi, Sakthi who was at the wheel reportedly lost control of the vehicle and hit against a roadside advertising pole.

In the impact, Sakthi, his mother Sujatha and brother Vetrivel sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Hemalatha and two others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Ulundurpet General Hospital. A case has been registered.
