Three people were killed and one injured after an auto-rickshaw collided with a car on the Nasarlapally stretch on the Nalgonda highway on Monday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Ratlavath Bhaskar, 28, Ratlavath Vinod, 25, both residents of Mudigonda village in Devarakonda mandal, and Sapavath Ravi, 28, of Jarpula thanda, Devarakonda mandal. The injured, Jarpula Krishna, also from Jarpula thanda, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the four were reportedly inebriated and carrying a few beer bottles.

The auto-rickshaw driver is said to have applied sudden brakes, causing it to flip and fall onto a hatchback car coming on the opposite direction.

The car, bearing registration number TS 08 JH 5885, was travelling from Mallepally towards Hyderabad.

The driver and passengers of the car sustained injuries, though their identities have not yet been confirmed. The driver of the auto-rickshaw has not been identified.

Nalgonda police shifted the bodies to the Government Hospital in Devarakonda.

A case has been registered under Sections 106(1) and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
