Two domestic helpers and an accomplice were arrested by the Cyberabad police in connection with the murder of a housewife at Swan Lake Apartments in Kukatpally earlier this week.

The accused, who fled to Jharkhand after the crime, were apprehended in Ranchi late on Thursday (September 11, 2025) night.

Police identified the accused as Harsh Kumar, 20, and Roshan Singh, 22, both employed as house helps in the apartment complex, and Raju Varma, 19, who allegedly sheltered them after the crime. The victim was 50-year-old Renuka Agarwal, who was killed inside her flat on September 10.

Investigators said Harsh, who worked in the Agarwal household, and Roshan, employed in another flat in the same tower, conspired to rob the family after observing their daily routine. Once Renuka’s husband and son left for business on the morning of September 10, the duo entered the flat, tied her hands and legs, and slit her throat before assaulting her further. They then decamped with gold ornaments, rold-gold items, cash, watches and other valuables, fleeing to Ranchi where they were given shelter by Raju Varma.

Based on CCTV footage and other technical evidence, four police teams comprising local officers, the Central Crime Station (CCS) and the Special Operations Team tracked them down in Jharkhand. All three have confessed to the crime and police said stolen material, including gold ornaments, 16 watches, two mobile phones and the complainant’s house key, were recovered at their instance.

Police also revealed that Roshan Singh had a criminal record in Ranchi, with previous cases of assault and theft registered against him.

The arrested trio are being produced before court for a transit warrant to bring them to Hyderabad for further investigation.
