Thiruvananthapuram registers 98% pass in SSLC exams

The capital district of Thiruvananthapuram registered a pass percentage of 98% in the SSLC examinations this year. This was 0.59 percentage points less than the result last year. It was also the lowest among revenue districts in the State. Pathanamthitta had the highest pass percentage this year at 99.72.

Of the 32,877 students who appeared for the examinations from the district, 32,218 became eligible for higher studies. Of them, 16,174 were boys and 16,044 were girls.

Among the education districts, Neyyattinkara topped with a pass percentage of 98.36. Attingal came next with 98.19%, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 97.39%.

Of the 12,399 students who took the exams in Attingal, 12,174 passed. In the Thiruvananthapuram education district, 9,804 of the 10,067 students passed, and in Neyyattinkara, 10,240 of the 10,411 students became eligible for higher studies.

As many as 2,313 students secured A+ grade in all subjects in the district. Attingal education district had the highest number of students with A+ grade — 1,082, followed by Neyyattinkara with 623 and Thiruvananthapuram 608.

Girls outnumbered boys in securing A+ in all subjects — 1,592 girls as compared to 721 boys.

Of the 273 Scheduled Tribe students who took the examinations in the district, 269 became eligible for higher studies.

Of the 4,756 Scheduled Caste students who sat for the exams, 4,524 became eligible for higher studies.

A number of government schools in the city registered 100% success. These include Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School (HSS), Thycaud; Government High School (HS), Jagathy; Government HSS for Boys, Karamana; Government Model HSS for Boys, Chala; Government Central High School, Attakulangara; Government Regional Fisheries Technical HS and VHSS, Valiathura; Government Sanskrit HS, Fort; GV Raja Sports School, Mylam; Government HSS, Pettah; SMV Government Model HSS; Government Tamil HSS, Chala; Government Girls VHSS, Pettah; Government Medical College HSS; Government HS, Karikkakom; and Government HS, Mannanthala.

In the aided sector, schools with 100% pass include Salvation Army HSS, Kowdiar; St. Mary’s HSS, Vettucaud; Fort Boys HS; St. Roch’s HS, Thope; NSS HSS, Kesavadasapuram; SNG HSS, Chempazhanthy; St. Xavier’s HSS, Peyad; and Haji CHMKM Vocational HSS.

In the unaided sector, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Nalanchira; St. Thomas HSS, Mukkolakkal; Christ Nagar English Higher Secondary School; Nirmala Bhavan Girls HSS; Sree Vidyadhiraja Vidyamandir HSS; MMR HSS Neeramankara; Carmel Girls HSS; Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vazhuthacaud; Mary Giri EMHS, Kudapanakkunnu; Cordova EMHS, Poonthura; Jyothinilayam EM HSS, Kazhakuttam; Al-Uthuman EMHSS, Kazhakuttam; Lourdes Mount HS Vattapara; Holy Trinity EMHS, Alathara; Thunchan Smaraka English Medium HS, Ayranimuttom; and SNV HS, Chenkottukonam registered 100% pass.
