Hyderabad

The TGSRTC Staff and Workers’ Federation (SWF), on Sunday, called on employees of the corporation to participate in the nationwide strike on February 12, announced by central trade unions against what they termed the Centre’s “anti‑labour and anti‑people” policies.

SWF office-bearer Veeranjaneyulu said that the federation would coordinate with other unions and seek their participation. The union also plans to circulate pamphlets and posters and campaign by selling booklets on new labour codes.

Meanwhile, the TGSRTC Joint Action Committee has called for a “Struggle Day” on January 20, urging the government to fulfil the promises made to employees of the transport corporation. Key demands include the merger of the corporation with the government, wage revision, and procurement of electric buses directly by the State.

The federation urged the Congress government to allow union elections and grant recognition. The workload on TGSRTC employees has increased and they reminded the Congress leadership that recognition of unions was among its pre‑election promises.
