TG Govt. a ‘commission & appeasement’ govt., says Nabin

BJP national president Nitin Nabin alleged that a ‘Commissions Government’ is operating in Telangana, claiming that an ‘RR Tax’ – Revanth and Rahul” has to be paid for any work to be carried out or bills to be cleared. He also accused the “land mafia” of dominating governance in the State.

Addressing his maiden public meeting in Mahabubnagar (Telangana) on Wednesday, after taking charge as party president, to galvanise the cadre for the municipal polls, Mr. Nabin charged that the Congress government is practising “appeasement politics”. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks has exposed the political motives behind trying to please a certain section of population, he said.

While the Modi government at the Centre has introduced a Waqf Act, the State government has been strengthening the Waqf Board with a jurisdiction of over 77,000 acres, he alleged and also questioned its ‘silence’ over repeated acts of vandalism at temples.

“We will fight against this government. We will uphold ‘Sanatana Dharma’ traditions and will not tolerate anyone ridiculing our customs and practices,” he declared.

Earlier, the BJP president was welcomed with much fanfare by party leaders and workers at the Shamshabad airport on Wednesday.

Mr. Nabin urged party workers to reach out to every voter and explain the government’s failure in fulfilling promises such as financial assistance for women, support for farm labourers, loan waivers, and other commitments. “We should tell them that only the BJP can ensure justice by explaining about the ‘Good Governnance’ at the Centre,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special affection for Telangana, reflected in the rollout of various schemes, with the sanctioning of high-speed trains being the latest. “Our cadre must work to strengthen the party’s base and vote share in each booth, so that the lotus blooms in the next elections. It is not for power but for Telangana’s self respect and future,”he said. Rajya Sabha MP K. Laxman translated his Hindi speech into Telugu.

Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao condemned the “misleading and provocative” statements of PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud that the BJP would provoke people in the name of religion during the polls. Stating that both the BRS and Congress are wary of BJP, he expressed confidence that the party would win the highest number of seats.

Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy said that the two-year rule of Mr. Revanth Reddy has benefited neither Mahabubnagar nor Telangana, and alleged that both the BRS and Congress are merely play-acting as rivals. Local MP D.K. Aruna and others also spoke.
