Mild tension prevailed for some time in Kurnool city during election campaigning after some persons, allegedly affiliated with the TDP, tried to stop and attack former Kurnool MLA and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader M.A. Hafeez Khan in the 16th ward on Monday.

Mr. Hafeez Khan visited the Vaddegiri locality in the 16thward to campaign for his party’s contesting candidate. According to YSRCP leaders, some locals claiming to be TDP activists allegedly abused Mr. Hafeez Khan, obstructed the party’s election campaign, and threatened to cause harm to their leader and also those accompanying him.

Police immediately intervened and removed Mr. Hafeez Khan from the locality. An infuriated Mr. Hafeez Khan got back into his car and challenged the alleged attackers, but the police convinced him to leave the place.

Mr. Hafeez Khan later lodged a complaint with the One Town police seeking action against those responsible for the incident.
