Union Minister for Energy, Housing, and Urban Development, Manohar Lal, appreciated the progress made by several states in India in the area of energy efficiency, including Telangana.

Assuring full support to states for sustainable economic development through energy efficiency, the Minister reiterated that the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has launched the Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficiency Technologies in Industries and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme and allocated ₹1,000 crore initially across the country.

The aim of the ADEETIE scheme is to reduce energy consumption by 30- to 50% in MSMEs, enhance their power-to-product ratio, and support the creation of green energy corridors.

The Minister of Power, through BEE, has selected all states for the scheme and specifically selected five states, including Telangana (Medak district), exclusively for promoting global energy technologies in the pharma industry under the ADEETIE scheme, said Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava, Director General of BEE.

During 2023-24, India achieved 53.60 million tonnes of oil equivalent (MTOE) in energy savings, including 321 billion units of electricity savings, translating into approximately ₹2 lakh crore in annual monetary savings and a reduction of 321 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
