Stating that quality is the key to growth and public welfare, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Telangana government is investing in digitisation, real-time monitoring and automation across supply chains to ensure efficiency and quality in projects.
Addressing the 39th Annual Convention of the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Hyderabad Chapter, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy stressed that quality is the organising principle of governance in Telangana. He highlighted that rigorous standards in irrigation and food distribution are crucial to ensuring public welfare reaches citizens without spoilage or diversion.
The Minister emphasised that the build quality of projects, canals, pipelines and reservoirs directly affects farmers’ livelihoods. Poor design or execution of irrigation projects can impair water delivery for decades, he cautioned.
In the context of civil supplies, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy underlined the importance of quality in procurement, storage, transportation and distribution to ensure that every grain purchased with taxpayers’ money reaches the poor.
He noted that Telangana’s strategies on power, water, agriculture, employment, skill development and lake preservation are well thought out through extensive consultations with different sections of people. “Quality is not just a business requirement; it is a national imperative,” he said, highlighting the changing industrial landscape driven by digital technologies, artificial intelligence and automation.
The Minister urged QCFI and its members to integrate technology, sustainability and inclusivity into the ‘quality circle philosophy’. He praised the QCFI for training and motivating lakhs of employees across various sectors and recognized the Hyderabad Chapter as a leader in spreading the quality movement in the region.
Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy briefly shared his personal journey, mentioning that he is not just a politician but a former fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force (IAF). Chairman of the Hyderabad Chapter, Ch Balakrishna Rao, also spoke at the event.
The Minister gave away awards for the organization supporting QC movement to ECIL, NMDC, TGSRTC, Thermopads, Thermo Cables, Biocon, Biological Evans Limited, Tata group, Renuka Plastics, Toshiba, The Ramco & KCP cements, Midhani, BEL.
Honorary Secretary Dayanand Reddy proposed a vote of thanks.
