The Telangana government is extending subsidised loans of up to ₹18 lakh per unit to hundreds of self help group (SHG)-run cement brick manufacturing units across Telangana, with the objective of enhancing their production capacity. The initiative is being implemented through a coordinated approach by aligning the Housing Department with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP).

District-wise field visits revealed that a total of 736 SHG-run cement brick units are currently operational across the State. Comprehensive data were collected from these units on investment needs, production capacity, labour requirements and operational constraints. All the identified units will be supported in the first phase through capacity upgradation by facilitating access to subsidised loans. Other interested SHGs will be extended similar financial assistance in subsequent phases.
