Telangana government’s employee health scheme provides facilities including cashless treatment and CGHS-package-based medical services. File

The Telangana Government has constituted a corpus of around ₹240 crore for the effective implementation of the Employees Health Scheme envisaging cashless treatment for employees in empaneled hospitals.
12.91 lakh employees covered under accidental cover
The government is also implementing ₹1 crore accidental cover for employees without burden on the government or employees. The accidental cover scheme, billed as the biggest being implemented for the government staff in the country, covers 12.91 lakh employees as of now. These include 5.18 lakh regular staff, 5.01 lakh staff on contract, outsourcing, work charged and other categories, and 2.72 lakh pensioners and their eligible dependents.
It was initially launched in Singareni Collieries Company Limited, extended to the power utilities last year and subsequently covering all the employees of the government. The government received 33 claims in respect of employees since the launch of the scheme and 24 of them had been settled. So far, 15 claims were received from the Energy department and all of them involving over ₹15 crore were settled, and 50 claims submitted by the SCCL were settled.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka told the Legislative Assembly on Thursday (September 10, 2026) that the government had discussed the scheme with banks where the salaries of the employees were being credited. Since banks derived benefits from their relation with employees, agreements were reached envisaging support of banks to the insurance scheme. “As a result, neither the government nor the employees would bear any cost towards premium payment,” he said.
The health scheme fulfilled the employees’ long standing demand for cashless medical treatment and a committee comprising senior officials headed by Chief Secretary and representatives of the employees associations had been constituted to monitor its effective implementation. The scheme would provide facilities including cashless treatment and CGHS-package-based medical services.
