Officials of the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized a large consignment of Sildenafil tablets worth ₹2.7 lakh during a raid on a logistics depot in Hayathnagar on March 13. The stock had allegedly been shipped illegally into Telangana from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh without invoices.

Sildenafil tablets are medicines used primarily for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men. The drug belongs to a class of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, which work by increasing blood flow to certain parts of the body.

According to the DCA, officials from the Rangareddy Zone conducted the raid at the depot of logistics service provider Delhivery Limited, located in Hayathnagar Mandal in Ranga Reddy district. During the inspection, they detected a large quantity of Sildenafil Tablets 100 mg bearing the brand name “Dr Josh”. The seized batch, numbered AGT305126, had a manufacturing date of May 2023 and an expiry date of April 2026. The product was claimed to have been manufactured by Alventa Pharma Limited in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

“The consignment had been shipped without invoices and was allegedly sent by Puvvada Lakshmana, who has been described by authorities as a habitual spurious drug offender. Several cases related to spurious drugs are already pending against him in the State. In total, 7,300 tablets were seized during the operation,” DCA officials said.
