Stressing the need for speedy clearances of the projects forwarded by the Telangana government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up a special task force in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for the purpose.
“We request you (Prime Minister) to set up a special task force as a single window mechanism for clearing the projects forwarded by the States,” he said. Six major cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad — are acting as growth engines for the country’s economy and these cities should be developed comprehensively for ensuring that the country was on the top in developmental parameters as well as job creation.
Telangana’s projects awaiting clearances
“The pace of clearances is not matching the requirements. Several projects, including Hyderabad Metro Rail ( Phase II A &B), Musi rejuvenation, Bharat Future City, dedicated expressway between Machilipatnam and Future City are awaiting clearances,” he said.
Recalling that the wait continued after several meetings with Union Ministers concerned and representations made to the Centre, the Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to allocate a couple of hours of his time to go through the projects and accord speedy clearances. Mr. Reddy was speaking at a meeting organised in connection with the inauguration/foundation stone laying for several projects by the Prime Minister here on Sunday (May 10).
Mr. Reddy called the event as festival of development and not just a Central government’s programme and hoped that the Prime Minister would focus on developmental works as elections in five States were completed. Asserting that security of the country and its all-round development were of paramount importance, Mr. Reddy said he was disinclined to speak politics at this event which was focussed on development.
He asserted that the State would continue to seek the Centre’s help in realising its objectives for speedy development and recalled how the government brought out Telangana Rising Vision 2047 on the lines of Viksit Bharat 2047 released by the Centre. “The Centre set a target of achieving US $30 trillion economy by 2047. The Telangana government is firm on contributing at least 10%, US $3 trillion, by the same time,” he said.
Mr. Reddy recalled how Mr. Modi developed Gujarat as a role model for the country during his 10-year tenure with the help of the then Prime Minister late Manmohan Singh and wanted the present government to extend assistance to Telangana in the same measure. “We are aspiring to make Telangana a US $1 trillion economy by 2034 paving the way for US $3 trillion economy by 2047,” he said.
The government needed certain permissions and clearances towards achieving its cherished objectives. “We will fulfil the promise of contributing 10% (US $3 trillion) to the economy by 2047. We need your (the Prime Minister’s) help in this direction,” he said adding the State with less than 3% population of the country was already contributing 5% of the GDP and was firm on further enhancing this.
