Five people, including a teenager, were killed in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district on Friday (November 14, 2025) after a car they were travelling in fell into a ditch after crashing through a safety barrier on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place around 7.45 in the morning when the sports utility vehicle (SUV), travelling from Delhi to Mumbai, broke the expressway barrier and plunged into a ditch. The incident took place near Beed village under Rawti police station area.

Ratlam Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rakesh Khaka told The Hindu that the deceased included a 15-year-old boy, identified as Danish Chaudhary and a 70-year-old man — Ghulam Rasool. The deceased were residents of Mumbai and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

A CCTV footage of the crash also appeared on social media showing the car speeding through the road, breaking the aluminium barrier before crashing into the ditch.

While the police suspect that the driver may have dozed off, Mr. Khaka said, a probe is under way.
