Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor Vidya Shankar said on Tuesday that the varsity would extend all technical assistance if there was greater collaboration between ayurveda and technology.

He was speaking during the virtual inauguration of ’Techno Ayurveda-2025’ conference which was conducted as part of the 10th National Ayurveda Day, in the city on Tuesday.

Mr. Shankar said he foresaw a revolution in the healthcare sector if ayurveda and technology collaborated and stated that it would foster the country’s all-round development.

The conference was organised jointly by the Government Ayurveda Research Center, Mysuru, and Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering.

Describing Techno Ayurveda as a pathway to human health, Mr. Shankar, elaborated on Ayurveda and technology, noting that the 5000-year-old ayurveda remains a relevant medical science even in the present times. The reason for ayurveda’s permanence is its inseparable relationship with nature, he added.

Chidananda Gowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University, released the Kannada edition of Ayush 4 You, and commended that the articles published in Kannada would go a long way in enhancing the spirit and usage of Kannada in society.

He highlighted the positive aspect of researches being conducted in the field and how it was being transformed into socially relevant outputs.

The organisers said more than 150 students from 10 technical colleges across Karnataka participated in the workshop. There was also a comprehensive discussion on machines, equipment, robots, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies needed for ayurvedic medical science, which, the organisers said, was highly significant.

Among those who attended included Srikanth, Deputy Director of the Central AYUSH Research Center, Gundappa Gowda, president of Vidyavardhaka Educational Institutions, P. Vishwanath, secretary, Sadashive Gowda, principal of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Lakshmi Narayana Shenoy, Assistant Director at the Government Ayurveda Research Center, Mysuru.
